About Us
The “North American Society of Academic Orbital Surgeons” – NASAOS (pronounced ‘NAY-sose) – is a society dedicated to academic oculoplastic and orbital surgery, with a particular focus on furthering patient care through research and education. Founded in 2016 by 30 accomplished academic orbital surgeons from throughout the United States and Canada, our membership has grown to >80 members and rising rapidly. Our society’s goals include promoting medical and scholarly collaborations, improving resident teaching, advocating for high standards in academic orbital and oculoplastic surgery, and forming lasting collaborative relationships with sister organizations, such as AAO, ASOPRS, NANOS, AUPO, NASBS, SNS, and others.
Standard membership (through a nomination and application process) will be open to academic orbital and oculoplastic surgeons who actively participate in resident teaching and scholarly pursuits, including an active publication record.
