Mission, Vision, and Structure

Our mission: The purpose of NASAOS is to improve care of patients with complex orbital disease through collaboration, education, research and outreach efforts. We represent patients with orbital disorders and the academic orbital surgeons who take care of them today and tomorrow, advancing knowledge and bringing innovation and teamwork to patient care.

Our vision: We believe the unique expertise of academic orbital surgeons in attending to the most complex of disorders, and the teamwork that is the essential and natural state of academic medicine and surgery, can provide the foundation for excellence in patient care and education.

How we operate: The “North American Society of Academic Orbital Surgeons” – NASAOS (pronounced ‘NAY-sose) – was founded in 2016 with a charter membership of 30 accomplished academic orbital surgeons from throughout the United States and Canada. We are a society dedicated to academic oculoplastic and orbital surgery, with a particular focus on furthering patient care through research and education.
